Volunteer
Our clubs receive many types of donations that help support and enrich our members’ experiences. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County is so thankful to our volunteers and supporters, who generously donate their money, time, and/or services to our members. If you have any interest in volunteering, please contact Fran Levinson at 941-366-3911, ext. 126 or FLevinson@boysandgirlsclubs.com.
Volunteer Philosophy
Our Volunteers
actively and responsibly contribute hours of precious time and effort to serve our young members in an array of activities intended to enrich their lives, while concurrently providing them with a safe, nurturing, comfortable, and positive place to be.
Our Mission
“to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens” is the primary goal of our supportive, adult professional staff. However, our diverse and talented volunteers are an important component in our ongoing efforts and commitment to instill within our young members a sense of hope and opportunity, as we engage them in a variety of life-enhancing programs and character development experiences.
Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities
How often am I required to volunteer?
We have volunteers who work every day, several times a week, several times a month, once a month, once a year, and those who volunteer to work at special events and festivities. The opportunity to help us achieve our mission is always appreciated by the staff and members, alike, and we are delighted to accommodate your schedule.
What is the procedure for becoming a volunteer?
Please visit our Administrative Office at 3100 Fruitville Road and complete our volunteer application. In addition, all volunteers 18 or older are required to submit an L-1 Identity Solutions fingerprint background check from the UPS Store, 5020 Clark Road at the cost of $51.25. The online procedure for scheduling a fingerprint appointment is included in our application.
What qualifications do I need as a volunteer?
We rely on our volunteers to help us promote our programs and achieve our mission. Our experiences indicate that a volunteer needs the passion and desire to serve our youth with the intention of inspiring them and enabling them “to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.” A big heart and an open mind, sprinkled with some patience and a lot of kindness come in handy, as well!
